Plot of the Turkish TV series Bitter lands
The story of the TV series Bitter lands is set in 1970s Turkey and revolves around Zuleyha, who is a pretty girl living in the city of Istanbul with her stepbrother and sister-in-law. Young Zuleyja works as a dressmaker in a neighborhood in the city, and dreams of marrying her boyfriend, Yilmaz.
Yilmaz is a young man who earns his living working as a car mechanic. The boy despite being an orphan, was raised by his teacher.
Zuleyha and Yilmaz, despite not having a great economic stability, want to get married and start their new life together. However, misfortune would knock at the door, as Zuleyha’s stepbrother has a gambling debt. To pay it off, he decides to sell his sister to the local crime boss.
However, Yilmaz would not stand idly by, and in order to save the woman he loves, he kills the crime boss. As a result, he is forced to flee the city to save his life, and, despite wanting to leave Zuleyha in the care of her master, she refuses and they end up making their escape together.
Fate takes the couple to Adana, where they get a job at the Yaman farm, and in order not to be separated, both agree to introduce themselves as if they were siblings. There they meet Demir, the son of the farm owner. He will fall in love with the young Züleyha.
