Plot of the Turkish series Gülperi
The story of the drama at hand revolves around Gülperi, a woman who has gone years without news of her husband, a man who was involved in shady business dealings and is presumed to be dead.
Gülperi lives in her in-laws’ house with her three children. However, the stay is far from pleasant for her, who rather suffers the mistreatment and indifference of her husband’s relatives, who have cruelly bent her to the level of servitude.
But the worst was yet to come for Gülperi. One day, her brother-in-law tries to rape her, so she fights back by stabbing him with a pair of scissors; then her brother-in-law falls to the ground and she is sentenced to two years in prison, during which time she is separated from her children, who are left in the care of their paternal grandparents.
The time in prison is an eternity, but when she finally manages to get out, she finds that she cannot have her children because she has been denied custody. In addition, the children’s grandparents have spoken ill of Gülperi to the children, which makes them reluctant to return to their mother.
Frustrated and desperate, Gülperi turns to an old lawyer friend, a man named Kadir, to help her get her children back. In the course of the legal battle, new feelings will surface between them.
