Plot of the Turkish series Rise of Empires: Ottoman
Contrary to what you may think, this docuseries is far from being a pseudo-historical work of action and adventure. On the contrary, it is a complete work of remarkable historical rigor that details aspects such as the defense of Constantinople and the personalities of some of those involved.
The plot focuses specifically on Mehmed II, Ottoman Sultan, who undertakes an epic campaign to take Constantinople.
The mission will not be easy, because despite having a large army Medhmed is only 19 years old, so as the siege drags on, the failure seems already announced because the sultan’s men have less and less confidence in him.
For his part, Constantine XI has fortified walls that have not been overcome in 23 sieges. However, he has almost no men, allies or money, plus the people around them do not seem very loyal, so the defense will not be easy.
As the story is told, specialists in the Middle Ages intervene, commenting on the characters, and telling legends and different versions of the events. Therefore, it is emphasized that the historical rigor of the series is absolute.
Undoubtedly, a fascinating and educational series worth watching.
