Series about doctors have long managed to gain empathy and be embraced by millions of fans. Dr. House, The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy are an example of the audience impact of such shows.
And the Turkish television industry is not far behind, since a couple of years ago it released “Miracle Doctor”, also known as “Mucize Doktor” in its original language. This Turkish series, although we must accept that it is not similar (as far as quality is concerned) to Western series about medicine, it is worth watching, especially if you are a person who likes Turkish soap operas.
Plot of the series Miracle Doctor
Miracle Doctor just like The Good Doctor series starring Freddie Highmore, is a remake of the Korean series “Good Doctor”, which premiered in 2013. And, if that wasn’t enough, there is also a Japanese version.
The story in question is the same as presented in its counterparts. The plot revolves around Ali Vefa, who is a young boy suffering from the autism spectrum disorder associated with the so-called “savant syndrome”.
Ali was sent as a child to a specialized care center. It was there that he discovered that, in contrast to his disorder, he had extraordinary brain capacity and special abilities.
Years later, prompted by a country doctor, Ali becomes a physician and joins a surgical unit at Istanbul’s Berhayat Hospital. The medical team will see how the usual normalcy will be disrupted when the young man joins as a surgical assistant.
As Savant syndrome is a disorder that impairs socialization, Ali will at first find it difficult to communicate with his colleagues and patients.
Our protagonist carries the pain of having suffered rejection by his father and discrimination at school by his peers. However, he has also had two great supporters: his mother and his brother.
Despite all the prejudices, Ali will gradually gain the respect and affection of those around him. He is also fighting to fulfill his dream.
Seasons and episodes
The series premiered in 2019 has 64 episodes released in two different seasons. And even though fans have been clamoring for a third season, production ended and the telenovela was terminated.

Miracle Doctor was directed by Yusuf Pirhasan, and written by Pinar Bulut and Onur Koralp.
As for the cast, it features top-notch actors. Taner Ölmez, who plays Ali, has appeared in “Hakan, the Protector” and “The Sultana”. Beren Gökyıldız, known for “All for My Daughter,” also appears in the series.
